MATERIALS:
1. Medium weight size 4 yarn in any colors. I used Hobby Lobby brand “I Love This Yarn” in “Fire Red“.

3. Stitch marker: I like these Hobby Lobby ones.
4. Bent Yarn needle.
5. Polyfil: (12 oz. bags are $2.99 at Hobby Lobby.)
6. Two 6 mm safety eyes
7. Sewing pins.
STITCHES: (U.S. Terms)
Magic ring: Tutorial below:
sc: single crochet
inc: increase. 2 sc into the same st.

Here is a video tutorial of the invisible decrease, which looks much better than a regular decrease that leaves bigger holes in between stitches.
st(s): stitch(es)
ch: chain
sl st: slip stitch
blo/flo: back loop only/front loop only. Here is a video showing you how:
NOTES:
1. Work in continuous rounds.

3. Using stitch markers: Here is a video tutorial:
EYES
Insert the first eye. Count over 5 sts and insert the second eye. There should be 4 sts between them.
SKIP THE BELLY SECTION IF YOU’D LIKE CLAWD TO BE MORE OF A DECORATIVE APPLIQUE.

Clawd is adorable. Thank you so much! I greatly appreciate this pattern and I am so sorry if I sound a bit on the greedy side, but, I love his little sunning rock too! Is that pattern available? (I don’t possess an ounce of Designer’s creative talent in my body no matter how simple an item)
Hi Patty! Thank you so much! His sunning rock is included in the paid pattern for him and Jellina and her coral home. The link for the full pattern is right at the beginning where it says, “Clawd the Crab is the pet of Jellina and the entire pattern for them both can be found:

Hi! This is super cute and I was wondering if you give permission to sell the crab? (In small amounts, of course!) I made one of these and someone offered to buy it but I wanted to ask first if that is okay?
Hi Alexis! Absolutely yes! I’ll add a note in the post so people can know they can sell it, it’s just the pattern that cannot be sold. Thanks for asking! 😊
Hello! I love this pattern. I am just…very confused on how to attach the claws? Im not sure what “go through the ch 2 at the end” means and their very loose and wobbily and dont look like your pictures at all….
Hi Kaylie!
The last step in making the claws is a chain 2. You then fasten off and have a tail end of yarn. You will use that tail end to sew through those chain stitches and attach it to the body. See through the body and claws as many times as needed if yours are wobbly.
When you say it doesn’t look like my pictures at all, what specifically do you mean? Are your claws a completely different shape?
I have bumps from the chains. I think I just did it wrong. So I need to put the yarn through the chains and then the body? I did it body first then chain so that may have been where I screwed up. I’ll try to make another one and see if I can figure it out.
There are bumps from the chain 2. It doesnt look as nice as yours. So you put the yarn through the chain 2 first and then the body? I was doing body and then chain based on the image of where your supposed to put it, that may have been what i was doing wrong. Ill try to make another one and see if I can figure it out and try the chain first then body.
Hey Kaylie,
No you can go through the body first like the photo shows. Then come up through the chains on the claw. If you’d like, if you have Instagram you can message me there so you can send me photos so I can see what yours looks like and figure out the problem. I also have Facebook and tik tok, all of them are under the same name @chrisette_designs Facebook is just “Chrisette Designs”
Made one for myself, my mom, and my best friend- live in Southern California so we all have beach-themed decor. Thanks for the pattern and looking forward to checking out your others!
Aw that sounds adorable! Thanks for sharing and enjoy my other patterns on here 😁. I’ve got a few free ones on my YouTube channel as well!
